NFA organized a research retreat

NFA organized a research retreat from January 9-11, 2023 at Hotel Pabera, Budanilkantha. In this three-day residential, we reviewed and updated the content of the SEAP report. We also worked on the visualization and design of the report.
NFA participated in the Voice Linking and Learning Program
NFA’s Executive Director, Subin Mulmi participated in the Linking and Learning program organized by Voice and Constellation in Jogjakarta, Indonesia. The grantees of Voice were present in the event where all of them shared their achievements and learnings with each other.

New Finance and Admin Coordinator
NFA hired a new Finance and Admin Coordinator, Sudir Silwal. Sudir is an experienced Accountant who has worked with for-profit and non-profit organizations based in Nepal.
Strategic Planning Workshop with Family Frontiers
Date: February 22, 2023
NFA organized a strategic planning workshop with the team of Family Frontiers. NFA will now support Family Frontiers with the drafting of their strategic plan based on the discussions and outcomes of the workshop.
Roundtable on supporting the leadership of affected persons
NFA helped organize and participated in a roundtable discussion on supporting the leadership of affected persons on gender-equal nationality rights. The roundtable was organized by the Global Campaign for Equal Nationality Rights (GCENR). NFA is a part of the GCENR Capacity Building Working Group (CBWG) and this event was organized by the CBWG.
NFA organized a planning and research retreat
Date: March 3-6, 2023
NFA organized a Planning and Research Retreat from March 3-6, 2023. In this four-day residential event, we finalized our Statelessness Mapping Report (SEAP) and also used this opportunity to engage in organizational planning and fun team-building activities with lots of experience sharing, games, and laughter.
New Program Coordinator and Program Officer
NFA hired Melinda Anne Sharlini as their new Program Coordinator and Kritagya Rai as the new Program Officer. Melinda has worked with Family Frontiers in Malaysia and will now be working with NFA to organize the World Conference on Statelessness. Kritagya is a human rights lawyer based in Nepal who will now coordinate the formation of the Regional Coalition on Statelessness in Asia Pacific.

Visit to Malaysia and meeting with stakeholders
NFA’s ED, Subin Mulmi visited Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from March 20 – 24, 2023. During this visit, along with colleagues from ISI, DHRAA and NFA’s Program Coordinator, Melinda Anne Sharlini, they visited Taylor’s University, the venue for the World Conference on Statelessness, 2024, and had meetings with the Malaysian civil society organizations, the Malaysian Human Rights organizations and with NFA’s partner Family Frontiers.
